About the Program

AVINYA’27 is the fourth edition of the Energy Startup Challenge conducted as part of India Energy Week 2027. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry, MyGov and India Energy Week. The challenge seeks innovative, scalable and impact-oriented solutions across the energy value chain.

Eligibility requirements

  • The startup must be recognised by DPIIT under the Startup India initiative.
  • The startup may be at the ideation or early stage, including bootstrapped, pre-seed and Series A through Series C.
  • The startup must be no more than 10 years old as of 1 January 2027.
  • Annual turnover must be below INR 100 crore.
  • The proposed solution must relate to the published energy-value-chain themes.
  • An entity formed by splitting or reconstructing an existing business is not eligible.
  • Concept-note-stage ideas are expressly eligible.

Offerings / Benefits

  • First prize: INR 3 lakhs.
  • Second prize: INR 2 lakhs.
  • Third prize: INR 1 lakh.
  • The top five winners receive travel and accommodation support to participate in India Energy Week 2027, felicitation at the event and exhibition space to showcase their solutions.
  • Additional benefits include investor introductions, industry mentorship, networking, possible access to incubation workspace and testing or prototyping infrastructure, potential fast-tracked procurement pathways and possible PoC or pilot opportunities subject to industry interest.
  • The top ten startups receive recognition certificates, visibility through FIPI platforms and interaction with a jury of investors, energy-industry leaders, experts and incubator representatives.
  • One special recognition is available in the Young Innovators category for student entrepreneurs from academic or research institutions.

Selection process

  • Round one screens all eligible applications against the challenge's evaluation criteria and selects the top ten startups.
  • During round two, the top ten startups present their business cases to the jury. Five winners are then selected, with the top three receiving cash prizes.
  • The winners will be felicitated at India Energy Week 2027, scheduled for January 2027.
