About the Program

SPEEDRUN is Andreessen Horowitz’s highly selective early-stage accelerator. SR008 will run from late January through April 2027 in San Francisco, with mandatory in-person attendance.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be early-stage founders building a startup.
  • Solo founders may apply, although complementary founding teams are generally preferred.
  • Prior fundraising does not disqualify an applicant.
  • A prototype or early market validation is encouraged but not mandatory.
  • Selected founders must be able to participate in person in San Francisco.

  • More than USD 10 million in available partner credits across cloud, AI and software providers.
  • Hands-on support covering recruiting, sales, marketing, go-to-market, fundraising, HR and business development.
  • Visa and relocation assistance for international founders.
  • Access to the SPEEDRUN founder community and a Demo Day reaching early-stage investors.
  • No board seat is required, although a16z receives pro-rata rights and expects an employee option pool.

Sectors supported

Technology-driven startups across sectors. SPEEDRUN does not publish a mandatory sector restriction for SR008.

Selection process

  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, generally within four to six weeks.
  • Promising applicants may be invited to submit a short video pitch or attend a 15-minute interview.
  • Additional references, company data or supporting information may be requested before a final decision.
  • The program reports an acceptance rate below 0.4%, with recent cohorts containing approximately 60–70 teams.
